Blending traditional Omani architecture with futuristic design, the innovative headquarters in Al Seeb district of Muscat was an ambitious collaboration between ourselves, cost consultants Hanscomb & Co and leading architect and construction manager W.S. Atkins.
The construction began in January 2008 as we linked three main office areas with an auditorium and cutting edge executive office suites. These areas were then connected by a two-storey ‘street’ made from glass complete with restaurants, gym and a Bank Muscat branch, all flanked by beautiful palm trees and water features.
Although it was important that the region’s cultural aesthetics were observed throughout the construction, the iconic building enjoys a freshness in its open plan design. Bridges, ‘floating’ stairways and themed breakout areas were the brainchild of Geyer – an Australian interior designer.
