Project story
It’s not just the daily running of a building that Mace can offer as a growing world-class service, but also our knowledge of the local industry and our drive to understand each clients’ unique needs. Alongside the managed services offering, our expert consultancy team is on-hand to help clients review and manage their FM requirements and statutory obligations in the most effective way possible.
In 2017, Mace’s FM Consultancy division was approached by Royal Star & Garter - a UK charity that cares for ex-service people and their partners living with a disability or dementia - to conduct a facilities management review of their premises, taking into consideration the specialist purpose of the residential buildings.
With a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience, the team conducted reviews of two of their existing Homes, ahead of the development and opening of a third site. Working closely with the CEO and senior team we reviewed the Homes to assess the health and safety standards, as well as conducting staff and management structure reviews for the FM provision, with additional support provided by external consultants for the procurement of catering services.
Mace conducted the review, assessing the models in both Homes, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the pre-existing facilities and service and recommending areas for improvement as well as delivering cost-savings, service enhancements and clear processes.
As part of the review, Mace supported Royal Star & Garter during the tender process for a service provider to deliver mechanical and electrical (M&E) services for both Homes. Additionally, Mace supported in the recruitment of an Operations Director, allowing the charity to independently oversee a robust service delivery and maintenance programme tailored to the needs of its residents and management of each site.
