Project story

With a unique design these impressive towers stand as a point of difference amongst the high-rises in Vietnam. The contemporary residences are fully fitted-out by internationally-acclaimed architects and interior designers with natural stones, woods and marble. With spacious rooms, soaring ceilings and sweeping views across the city these apartments make for the perfect family home.

Delivered in two distinct phases, the City Garden scheme comprises of three towers in four separate blocks and the accompanying facilities of car parks, hospitality spaces, a club house and a fitness centre. After being appointed in 2010 Mace’s team in Vietnam provided services throughout the full lifecycle of both phases of this project from design management and pre-construction consultancy through to project and construction management.

The close proximity of neighbouring residential dwellings to the development created a number of logistical challenges. The team worked closely with local authorities and resident groups to minimise disruption during the construction of the towers, with strict constraints put around the timing of deliveries and activity on-site. Although this put pressure on the programme the team’s meticulous planning meant the project was completed two months ahead of schedule.

Transition

City Garden is considered to have re-defined the quality and delivery standards for the Vietnamese construction market. Mace worked alongside the design team and stakeholders to ensure quality design solutions were delivered for the apartments and handover to residents was done with minimal snagging. The resulting residences have been extremely well received and have continued to sell in a very tough residential market.

Health and safety

Management of health, safety and wellbeing is one of the biggest challenges when delivering a large scale project in Vietnam. The Mace team met this challenge head-on, proactively engaging with the workforce and promoting a positive health and safety culture on the project. Throughout the entire construction phase, the Mace team prepared and delivered safety awareness training to the site operatives. The team also engaged with the neighbouring residents and delivered an interactive presentation to the local children to inform and raise awareness of the dangers associated with construction sites. This was the first event of its kind in the region. All this hard work culminated with over 3.5 million man hours worked accident free.

“We have been incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented group of men and women, without whom we would never have been able to build such a successful residential development. It has been a cohesive effort of all involved and we are proud to recognise the many hours of hard work and commitment to safety, continued training and communication by all.”
