Mace Consult appointed by Civil Engineering and Development Department of Hong Kong SAR to support the delivery of Northern Metropolis
Mace Consult, in a joint venture with Arup, has been appointed as Programme Management Partner (PMP) by the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) for the delivery of the Northern Metropolis.
This partnership will see the progressive establishment of a Programme Management Office (PMO) across the development of the Northern Metropolis, a 30,000 hectare mega-programme that will connect the northern part of Hong Kong to the southern part of Shenzhen and is envisioned to be a new engine of growth for the region.
The Northern Metropolis aims to promote collaboration between Hong Kong and other Greater Bay Area cities, eventually catering to a residential population of 2.5million and providing around 650,000 jobs.
This groundbreaking development will further boost Hong Kong’s economic growth, providing new land for innovation and technology centres, housing developments, culture and leisure facilities, among many other purposes.
As CEDD’s Programme Management Partner, Mace Consult will lead the provision of multi-disciplinary Programme Management Services for two key components of the Northern Metropolis, namely Kwu Tung North / Fanling North New Development Area and San Tin Technopole Project. This will include building systems and putting processes in place to ensure the successful delivery of this ambitious urban development initiative in Hong Kong.
This will be CEDD’s first implementation of the PMO model, allowing opportunities for collaboration in the earliest stages of the programme. The partnership will include setting up an integrated digital platform that will enable the team to collect and analyse data, providing timely reports that will drive informed decisions throughout the extremely complex delivery process.
The appointment of the Mace-Arup Joint Venture supports the HKSAR Government’s bold steps in moving major programmes forward, ultimately geared towards economic growth across industries and improved quality of life for the community.
