Mace features in ITN's 'Masterminds of Construction' film
Mace features in CIOB's ‘Masterminds of Construction’ film with partners CLOCS, Land Securities and Tarmac to improve road safety in the construction industry.
For a second year running, the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and ITN Productions have produced a news and current affairs-style programme, introduced by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky.
The film highlights how leading construction clients, contractors and fleet operators such as Land Securities, Mace and Tarmac are fulfilling their CDM (Construction Design and Management Regulations) responsibilities through training and the use of innovations such as direct vision to reduce accidents between large vehicles and vulnerable road users.
The ITN Productions film, available to view here examines how important and demanding construction management is, and the power of collaboration to overcome risks from unforeseen events in order to deliver world-class projects.
CLOCS Champions: Land Securities, leading property developers; Mace, an international construction and consultancy; and Tarmac – a leading sustainable materials and construction solutions business, are changing behaviours and business processes to protect pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and other road users who share the roads with construction vehicles.

Tony Blackledge, Construction Director at Mace and winner of the company’s 'Safety First. Cynthia Barlow, Chair of RoadPeace the national charity for road crash victims, tragically lost her daughter in an incident with a left-turning lorry in 2000. Cynthia works in close partnership with CLOCS and was pleased to be invited to participate in the film. She said: “An accident waiting to happen is not an accident. There are things you can do to stop it.”
