Hanoi Opera House

Hanoi’s ‘floating’ opera house: an artistic landmark for cultural exchange

Isola Della Musica, an opera house and cultural landmark, is set to rise from the tranquil waters of Hanoi’s West Lake in 2027. With a 1,800-seat opera hall and a 1,000-seat convention venue, Isola Della Musica is poised to become a premier destination for international productions, cultural exchange, and creative innovation.

Anchored between West Lake and Đam Tri Lake, the structure will transform 13,347 square meters of existing land, creating a seamless connection between the two bodies of water. The ‘floating’ opera house was designed by internationally acclaimed architect Renzo Piano, to resemble the organic form of a mother-of-pearl. Its ribbed concrete shell will feature shimmering ceramic tiles, echoing the legendary freshwater oysters of West Lake.
