Mark Reynolds awarded CBE in His Majesty The King’s New Year Honours List 2026
For services to Business and the Construction Industry, Mark Reynolds, Mace Group Executive Chair and Co-Chair of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC), has been named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in this year’s New Year Honours.
On the announcement of this award, Mark Reynolds, Mace Group Executive Chair and Co-Chair of the Construction Leadership Council, said:
“I am honoured to be recognised in the King's New Year Honours List for services to Business and the Construction Industry. The award is a reflection of the exceptional work of everyone at Mace and the thousands of people across the industry who support the Construction Leadership Council.
“I am proud of the influence the CLC has had on improving skills, building safety and supporting the industry's journey to net zero, and it is a privilege to be part of an industry that makes such a significant contribution to the UK’s economy.”
After playing a key role within the organisation, including jointly chairing its People & Skills work stream, in 2022 Mark Reynolds was confirmed as CLC Co-Chair. Since then, Mark has engaged with government departments on behalf of the sector to overcome the substantial challenges facing the industry, ensuring the creation of valuable jobs and opportunities for people, and supporting the sector’s contribution to UK economic growth.
The CLC’s role has risen to particular prominence over the last 18 months through helping the Government, the regulators and industry implement the Building Safety Act and working together to reduce the legislative burden on industry. Along with other industry partners it has contributed to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill and continues to offer proposals to make construction business models more sustainable and support the delivery of the Government’s ambitious housing targets and infrastructure plans.
Mark also Co-Chairs the Construction Skills Mission Board, which was established in 2025 to support the Government’s ambitions for UK construction delivery. The Mission Board works across industry and Government to support the training of more skilled construction workers and enable industry to create more well paid jobs across the country.
Mark joined Mace in 1996 as a project manager and gained his early experience in the commercial and aviation sectors before becoming the Deputy Programme Director for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Since becoming Group Chief Executive in 2013, he has played a vital role in the growth of the company, the headcount for which surpassed 8,000 for the first time in 2024 whilst delivering record turnover.
Ensuring the long-term future of the businesses is secured, in July 2025 the company announced a majority investment in Mace Consult by Private Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives through a divestment from Mace Group, enabling the next phase of growth for Mace Construct and Mace Consult.
