Mace Group announces next step in strategic evolution

Following last year’s announcement of a majority investment in Mace Consult, by Private Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Mace Group has announced plans to position itself in the next stage of its strategic journey.

Once the transaction closes, Mace Consult will take an independent path and will continue to grow and develop under the Mace name, leveraging the strength of the brand’s global reputation in delivering exceptional programme and project delivery. It will remain owned by Mace Group’s current shareholders until the transaction completes.

Mace Construct will adopt a new name and identity later this year, reflecting the firm’s proud heritage and bold ambitions for the future. The new brand will be one which is designed around who the firm is today, together with a refreshed growth strategy that will set an ambitious trajectory for its UK-wide growth plans in construction.

Since delivering its first project in 1998, Mace Construct has grown from an innovator in construction management to a trusted contractor behind some of London’s most iconic skyline landmarks, including The Shard and Battersea Power Station.

Today, the business has grown to become the UK’s 6th largest contractor, the second largest privately owned contractor, and has been named Contractor of the Year 12 times in the past 14 years.

For the interim period, the two businesses will be known as ‘Mace Construct’ and ‘Mace Consult’.

Jason Millett, Group Chief Executive at Mace said:

“Since we were founded in 1990, Mace has continued to evolve as we’ve grown; from a boutique consultancy to the leading London contractor, and now to one of the globe’s foremost programme and project managers.

“We are pleased today to be announcing the next chapter in that story. Mace Consult will become an independent organisation in January, led by Davendra Dabasia as CEO. We have worked hard over the past decade to establish ‘Mace’ as a global benchmark for exceptional programme delivery, and we think it is right that Davendra and his team are able to continue to build on the strength of that brand in Consult’s growth markets across the world.

“Here in the UK, we believe there is an opportunity for Mace Construct to evolve once again, adopting a new name and identity that leverages our established relationships and reputation for construction delivery, setting a bold path forward with a new vision and a renewed focus on what our people stand for and what our teams are here to deliver.

“For the time being, both Mace Consult and Mace Construct will continue to operate under the Mace brand – but during 2026 we’ll be working with Construct’s colleagues, clients, suppliers and partners to develop something truly exciting. It’ll be a co-created new identity built around our legacy in London and who we are today – a bold and innovative contractor – with a clear view of what we want to achieve together in the future.”
