Amentum names Mace Consult in global delivery partner team for Rolls-Royce SMR

  • A global delivery partner team, led by Amentum and containing Mace Consult, will oversee the deployment of Rolls-Royce SMR’s small modular reactors (SMRs).
  • Mace Consult will draw on experience across all its core service lines to support Programme Mobilisation and Project Controls.
  • The initial focus will be on the first plants in the UK and Czech Republic.

Leading global delivery consultancy, Mace Consult, has been named as part of the delivery partner team that will help Rolls-Royce SMR build the next generation of nuclear power plants.

The delivery team, led by Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering and technology solutions, will work with Rolls-Royce SMR to provide integration, oversight and governance, construction management and execution of the global SMR programme.

Mace Consult will provide a broad range of insight and support across the commission, drawing on experts from its Programme and Project Management, Programme Management Office (PMO), Advisory, and Responsible Business teams. In addition, Mace Consult will support the Project Controls workstream, which includes mobilisation of the delivery partner team and its processes.

Reinforcing Mace Consult’s place in the team is a track record as a delivery partner on mega programmes around the globe. From the Hudson Tunnel in the US, to the New Hospital Programme in the UK, and king Salman International Airport in Saudi Arabia, the team will bring best practice from a variety of sectors.

The Mace Consult team will also lean into the firm’s experience in the nuclear sector, which includes work at Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and across the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority estate to share knowledge and lessons that will enhance delivery.

Initially, the Rolls-Royce SMR programme will focus on delivering the technology in the UK at Wylfa, North Wales, and also Temelín in the Czech Republic. In the UK, Rolls-Royce SMR has been selected as the preferred bidder by Great British Energy – Nuclear (GBE‑N) to build three units that will deliver up to 1.5GW of low-carbon energy to the grid, supporting the UK's net zero goals and creating more than 8,000 quality long-term British jobs.

Mace Consult CEO, Davendra Dabasia, said:

“Around the world, the pressing need to generate more low-carbon energy is more acute than ever. Rolls-Royce SMR’s vision to provide clean, affordable energy for all presents an ambitious, exciting and scalable solution to the challenge, and this appointment marks a critical step towards deployment.

“We’re incredibly proud to be part of Amentum’s delivery partner team, with our role serving as a signal of our track record not only in the nuclear industry, but as a leading major programme delivery consultant around the world. We are committed to bringing our experience, expertise and insights gathered from different sectors and geographies to provide Rolls-Royce SMR with a service grounded in best practice and innovation.”
