Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Can I send in my CV to keep on file?

If you apply for a suitable role on through a careers page, but are unsuccessful initially, your CV will be kept on file for future opportunities.

Will I receive an acknowledgement that my application has been received?

Yes, every application is acknowledged. You should receive an automated acknowledgement email within five minutes of submitting your application and a personalised email with the outcome of the application within two to four weeks.

How can I update the information or CV you hold for me?

You can log into your account any time to update your personal details or your CV. Please also take the opportunity to reset your preferences to receive notifications for positions of interest.

Can I apply for more than one job at a time?

You can apply for as many jobs as you feel match your experience and skill set.

How often is the careers site updated?

We update it each day.

Why was my application rejected?

We receive more than 100 applications a day and therefore have to apply specific selection criteria. Our database assesses your CV and matches keywords to future roles, so if the ideal job comes up you should be automatically shortlisted and contacted. We also encourage you to review our career pages regularly for new positions that we advertise.

What selection criteria are usually applied?

The criteria varies for each role but typically we will look at past career history, education, accreditation and charterships, responsibilities in previous positions, sector experience and transferable skills.

What are the key steps of the recruitment process?

After the application is reviewed by the recruitment team the strongest four to five candidates will be invited to a telephone interview that lasts for 20-25 minutes. If successful, you will be invited to a more formal interview which is usually face to face and lasts around an hour. The final stage is an interview with the hiring manager for the role.

How long will the selection process take?

We aim to review all applications within five working days and respond to you directly within two weeks. We respond to all applicants regardless of the outcome, but during peak periods this may take up to four weeks.

How long will my details be kept by Mace?

Your details will be retained for a period of 12 months. At this point we will contact you to seek permission to retain them for another 12 months. At the annual review you will get the opportunity to send us an updated CV and information.

In my personal information secure?

Mace has been ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certified by BSi since 2010. Our information security accreditation uses a family of standards that help us to manage the security of assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details or information entrusted to us by third parties.

What should I do if I suspect that I've received fictitious job offer or have been targeted by an employment scam?

We are aware that fraudulent job offers are being made to prospective candidates across the construction industry, particularly to people outside the UK.

The most frequently used scam is a fake offer of employment via email, which asks for personal information, financial details, and/or payment for visas.

Mace does not send any offers of employment without meeting with individuals. We do not send emails from addresses such as @gmail.com or @construction.net and we never request any form of payment as part of a job application or offer of employment.

If you believe you may have been targeted by an employment scam relating to working at Mace, please contact career@macegroup.com immediately.

We will investigate and respond to you directly with our findings. It’s important we know about these instances so we can alert our legal team.

What is Mace's commitment to recruiting diverse candidates?

For an international construction company, being open to different ideas, perspectives and cultures is important. Both Mace Consult and Mace Construct work hard to ensure they are diverse and inclusive environments where everyone can achieve their potential. All applicants are treated with professionalism and respect – whatever their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation or age.
