Mace is seeking to appoint an experienced construction manager (steel structures) to plan, direct, manage and oversee implementation of the construction of the project to ensure the client goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed schedule, budget and defined health, safety and quality parameters of the contract.

Effective communication with client, contractor and sub-contractors, consultants, management of client and project stakeholders is required.

The role will direct the construction teams, provide internal and external coordination and collaboration.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering the project from pre-contract to construction and handover stages.
  • Directing the contractors on their roles and responsibilities with regard to health and safety procedures and comply with safety sustainability policy and procedures.
  • Overseeing and directing construction projects from conception to completion.
  • Reviewing the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimating costs.
  • Overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Coordinating and directing construction workers and subcontractors.
  • Reviewing the work progress on daily basis.
  • Preparing internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
  • Planning ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
  • Negotiating the terms of agreements, drafting contracts and obtaining permits and licenses.
  • Evaluating, managing and mitigating risks.
  • Ensuring quality construction standards and using of proper construction techniques.
  • Ensuring that structural steel work is executed as per the approved drawings and in line with drawing/amendments issued from time to time. Making sure all civil works are ready and undergone complete QA/QC procedure before erection of steel structure takes place.
  • Planning and directing site activities to mitigate delays and manage crash schedules.
  • Ensuring completion and testing carried by other disciplines (MEP, ICT and etc.) before start of wet/dry finishing works.
  • Checking the structural steel or supporting RCC works for accuracy, dimensions and measurement, as per GFC drawings.
  • Reviewing and validating as built drawings with respect to works executed submitted by EPC contractor or other contractors on site.
About you

  • A degree qualification in civil engineering.
  • Specialised qualification in project/construction management is required.
  • Professional memberships is beneficial.
  • Minimum of 18-20 years’ experience.
  • Working into commercial and hospitality sector such as grade A offices, malls, hotels or mixed-use developments.
  • Fair knowledge of other disciplines i.e. architecture, MEP, sustainability, information and communication technology, landscaping and BIM.
  • Fair knowledge of various international and national codes and standards.
  • Time management and organisational skills.
  • In depth knowledge of large heavy steel structure - fabrication and erection on site/RCC construction.
  • Fair knowledge of finishing works, knowledge of roofing works.
  • Familiarity with construction/project management software, MSP and AutoCAD.
  • Strong influencing and people management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
