Como held its industry breakfast briefing in the City of London with leading business coach and international speaker, Darren Shirlaw facilitating the morning's events. He addressed key clients and consultants from SEGRO, Turner & Townsend, British Library, Lockton, BT and Davis Langdon.
Guests enjoyed spectacular views of the City from the venue at Coq D' Argent and took the opportunity to network over a cup of coffee before sitting down for breakfast and Darren's presentation. Having started his career in the fund management industry and progressing on to launch a successful international coaching business, Darren is well versed in helping businesses develop strategies to achieve long term sustainable growth.
His presentation focused on the risks and opportunities available to businesses. Making use of a W shaped graph based on the performance of the footsie, Darren predicted that the market would experience another drop before picking up again. Some of the key messages guests took away were:
Don't sell in a recession what you sell in a boom - repackage your offer accordingly.
Invest now for the future - invest in staff, resources and skill sets six to nine months before the market picks up.
As decision makers, make sure you know what you company and senior management risk profiles are in order to make the best strategic decisions.
