The UK Government’s recent “2050 Pathways Analysis” [pdf] represents the latest and most comprehensive national statement on future energy supply direction, identifying six different “pathways” detailing how the UK’s energy demands will be met between 2010 and 2050. Within these six pathways oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels) will still dominate the UK’s electricity generating capacity through to 2030, providing between 50% and 80% of the overall demand.

To deliver the fuel for this generating capacity, the industry expects to see a gradual increase in both the capital and operating expenditure by oil and gas companies from 2011 onwards. This expenditure will take place in an environment which comes with intense challenges, not the least of which will be the critical need to deliver capital investments in ways which create the value and returns which companies need.

Mace has a track record of finding different approaches to delivering capital projects across different sectors of industry, including the energy sector. Our energy team is now applying our integrated value-added approach to programme, project and construction management to the oil and gas sector.
