Rolls Royce Goodwood Plant | Mace
Creating industrial and technological facilities suited to the optimal delivery of a completely unique product requires an equally distinctive set of skills and knowledge. Rolls Royce Motor Cars, which manufactures cars that marry the best of traditional handmade crafts and high technology, encountered this challenge at its Goodwood plant, which needed re-engineering to create a new production line for a new model. The project required major internal construction works and the challenging addition of a new heavy-duty mezzanine floor within an existing structure. For the client, the works represented a necessary step but also a risk; its cars have to be hand assembled in dust-free environments with regular visits from prospective purchasers. The company worked with Mace to ensure a careful and deftly planned construction process.
Mace brought an intelligent organisation to the works. The team liaised with the heads of departments to integrate the relocation of sections of the existing production line in order that the construction works could take place as efficiently as possible. The enabling works and construction phases, some 20 separate projects, were constructed in such a way that the new production line could be completed on time without threatening the existing work of the plant. Adding further support to the client, Mace also provided logistics management services from establishing site accommodation to site cleaning.
