Mace is currently constructing phase 1 of a new data centre with associated support facilities for Nationwide located on a site near Newbury, Berkshire.
The brown field development site of nine acres comprises of the construction of a new 2000m² single storey data hall, 1600m² of operating plant space with additional plant enclosures located externally and a 1400m² administrative block, consisting of office/meeting room space, circulation areas, store area, welfare and kitchen facilities. The data halls are rated at 1500w/m².
The project required extensive removal and relocation of various species of natural wildlife as well as substantial ground investigation and re-grading works prior to piling and ground works being able to be started. On completion the surrounding areas will be substantially landscaped and mature trees installed in order to provide an environmentally friendly building in which to both look at and operate from.
Mace has been appointed by Nationwide in a number of different capacities for the delivery of the Data Centre project:
