Information

In 2006 Mace delivered Phase 1 of the new University Campus in Abu Dhabi, which at 42,000m2, consists of mixed use classroom, lecture rooms, library, admin and residential areas.

The Abu Dhabi University project is one of the most successful undertaken by Mace in the region to date with completion of a 42,000m2 building achieved in an incredible 13 months from piling, of a completely greenfield piece of land with absolutely no services, to handover. In fact, the first students were using the facilities only three weeks after completion.

The building comprises 44 classrooms, 12 laboratories, a 600 seat auditorium and offices for 600 members of staff. In addition, a library will provide facilities for 5,000 students and six food and beverage outlets will accommodate 1,000 students at any one time.

The project is effectively the first phase of the Abu Dhabi University development and further phases will eventually provides a campus for 15,000 students. As a direct result of this success, Mace has now been recalled to submit proposals for subsequent phases and make recommendations on how to get existing work back on schedule.

The Abu Dhabi University project provides an excellent example of Mace’s broad ranging work in the education sector.
