Isle of Wight Council Office Transformation and Rationalisation | Mace
The Isle of Wight Council is undergoing the flexible working and modernisation programme with the aim of better utilising its office accommodation. Mace is providing project management services, space-planning advice, and design services for the rationalisation of the Council's estate. The team will also oversee all staff moves. As cost consultant, Sense is compiling a feasibility study for the programme.
Split between the main offices within County Hall and the remaining buildings within the Council's property portfolio, the project involves the rationalisation of 36 buildings into 14. The programme also incorporates the introduction of open plan offices and flexible working practices with a view to increasing efficiency. In addition to delivering new office accommodation for the Council's 1,600 employees, the Mace team has developed a structured programme of activity, led the property work streams and created a clear path to success for the client. On completion, the project is expected to deliver a 30 percent reduction in the overall footprint of the Council's property portfolio, a 60 percent reduction in document storage and an increase in the staff to workstation ratio from 1:1 to an average of 3:2.
