Hinkley Point New Build Nuclear

  • EDF Energy's proposed Hinkley Point development. Mace is helping the client to deliver the initial consultation documentation.

The path to building new power station capacity is a long and complex one, with many important stakeholders. EDF Energy is conducting a wide-ranging consultation exercise to obtain approval for a multi-billion, UK-wide building programme and is initially seeking permission to develop a nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset. Mace has been appointed to provide programme and project management services in support of the client’s application for a development consent order from the Infrastructure Planning Commission.

Charged with leading the associated development work, Mace will also prepare strategies for freight, waste, people and skills, and will manage the design for the temporary accommodation, park and ride and freight management facilities. Energy and utility sector clients are increasingly appreciating the value of Mace’s proven expertise in other challenging sectors such as infrastructure and aviation, and are taking advantage of an extensive programme management portfolio as demonstrated to great effect on the London 2012 Olympics. And as with the Games, Mace will be producing a deliverability report that will be core to EDF Energy’s future plans for the facility at Hinkley Point.
