Department of Health Benchmarking

As part of the Department of Health and NHS Consultancy Services Framework, Mace is appointed to deliver health consultancy and technical authoring.

Working in support of the Department of Healths emerging health strategy for offenders of all ages, this commission involved primary research on the health services in secure children's homes and secure training centres for the Department of Health and the Youth Justice Board. Both organisations required comprehensive information on how health services are commissioned and contracted in secure children's homes and secure training centres, how they are organised and delivered and whether the services meet needs. Part of the research is to identify best practice in addition to highlighting any gaps in service provision.

The Mace health team produced a report based on findings from visits to all 19 facilities commissioned by the Youth Justice Board in England and Wales, as well as spending time with community provider organisations. Interviews with stakeholders formed the basis of the far reaching report.
