Mace was proud to deliver the iconic Capital Gate feature tower, part of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre project. This ingenious tower rises from the ground with a unique "twisted" diagrid design. The tower has 33 levels including basement. From Level 18 up to level 33 there is a 5 star Hyatt hotel with 200 bedrooms. The lower levelsinclude a mezzanine floor, plus a communication area and office space. The 19th floor of the hotel hosts a fully featured spa and the tower also boasts 3 restaurants.
The total constructed area is 55,000m2 and the total height is 162.5m. The building employs 16 elevators and 2 escalators. From Level 18 up to level 33 there is a glazed atrium inside the building. On the east side there is a splash which is connected to a new canopy of the existing grandstand. In the basement are all the back of house areas for the hotel operator including the main kitchen. The double volume plant rooms are be in the basement, the 1st level and the 17th level. The 18th floor is the reception area for the main Hyatt Hotel restaurant. The 19th floor hosts a spa and an outdoor pool. The foundations have 470 piles, 600/1000 diameter with a 2m high raft. The core will be post-tensioned.
