Mike Fotherby

A qualified quantity surveyor, Mike has retained a keen commercial acumen whilst understanding the need for teamwork and maintaining a holistic view to successfully project manage facilities of all sizes and complexities.

Mike is able to successfully transfer the knowledge of best practice from the industry as a whole into the sectors in which he works. This knowledge of the whole process enables Mike to be both respected and effective – especially useful characteristics when in the role of client advisor.

Mike is leading the development of both the Mace Health and Industrial teams in the UK Regions.

In the Health sector Mike has worked at QMC in Nottingham, Queens Hospital at Burton on Trent, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospital in Rhyl, Maelor Hospital in Wrexham, Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor and Partners4Lift/Renova in Warrington

Mike is also currently Project Director on both the Siemens relocation project in Lincoln and the National Museums Liverpool completion project

In the property sector, Mike has worked on a number of developer-led schemes dealing with both residential and commercial facilities including the SAS Radisson Hotel (Liverpool), the Met Quarter (Liverpool), the £60m “Unity” Project in Liverpool and a number of hotel schemes. From the public sector aspect, Mike has worked with both Liverpool Vision and the NWDA evaluating developer proposals and led the consultant team undertaking an evaluation study on the National Microsystems facility on Edge Lane, Liverpool.

With regard to industry, Mike has undertaken works in the waste sector, including four years working at the waste incinerator in Sheffield undertaking the retrofit of the flue gas treatment and clinical incineration facilities and was briefly seconded into the Greater Manchester Waste client team during their PFI Waste Strategy tendering preparation.

Mike spent over 15 years in the nuclear industry including being responsible for a number of teams including Estimating, Cost Management and latterly Project Controls.

Additionally Mike has undertaken benchmarking and KPI-related commissions for Boots, Great Lakes Chemicals Corporation, the Virgin Group and Lever Faberge.
