The original 1930s facade of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford Upon Avon has been revealed for the first time in 70 years as work progresses on the multi million pound transformation project on which Mace is construction manager.
As part of the works, Mace has removed the restaurant and cafe buildings that were added to the original building five years after construction was completed. The extensive redevelopment plans include a riverside walkway that will provide a wider and more attractive route between the theatre and the River Avon on which it sits. As the project progresses, the brickwork will be restored along with key art deco elements of the building such as the foyer and fountain staircase.
