Director
Jonathan joined Mace in April 2004 with almost 20 years experience in construction delivery on a wide range of projects. He is currently project director responsible for the integrated management (incorporating construction and project management and cost consultancy) of the £155m Ropemaker project for British Land. This role follows the successful completion of More London Plot 4 in July 2006.
His first opportunity to lead a team on site came with the Round Tower stabilisation contract at Windsor Castle in 1990. Further high profile projects followed with the Queen's Stand at Epsom Racecourse and some of the earliest NEC contracts for BAA at Heathrow.
In 1996, Jonathan headed out to Hong Kong as one of the project managers on the $1 billion SuperTerminal 1 at the new Hong Kong International Airport. Following that, he delivered a manufacturing facility for IBM in southern China and was promoted to operations manager responsible for Gammon Skanska's business in Shanghai. Supported by a team of local, Hong Kong Chinese and expatriate staff, his role broadened to include marketing and tendering activities in addition to the continuing delivery of projects for Lucent Technologies and Schindler amongst others.
Jonathan returned to Hong Kong as senior project manager for Tradeport Logistics Centre and the DHL Asia hub, both GMP projects at the airport. In parallel, he led bids for the Disneyland hotel and Macau casino projects.
While operating in a fixed price environment and repeatedly exceeding profit expectations, Jonathan has consistently maintained a strong commitment to partnering and an integrated team approach. He was instrumental in setting up the Hong Kong construction innovation initiative and was also involved in developing corporate electronic project management systems.
Jonathan lives in Surrey with his wife and two young children.
