Jonathan Foster | Mace
Jonathan is a director of major projects, established in order to secure and deliver large, fixed price contracts. Current responsibilities include the overall project director role on Park House, together with a number of preconstruction studies for Land Securities and British Land.
Previously, Jonathan was responsible for the extremely successful, integrated management team on the £155m Ropemaker Place project for British Land, incorporating construction management, project management, cost consultant and fixed price logics. This followed the completion of More London Plot 4 in July 2006.
He joined Mace in April 2004 with almost 20 years experience in construction delivery on a wide range of projects. His first opportunity to lead a team on site came with the Round Tower Stabilization contract at Windsor Castle in 1990. Further high profile projects followed with the Queen's Stand at Epsom Racecourse and some of the earliest NEC contracts for BAA at Heathrow.
In 1996, Jonathan headed out to Hong Kong as one of the Project Managers on the $1 billion SuperTerminal 1 at the new Hong Kong International Airport. After delivering a manufacturing facility for IBM in Southern China, he was promoted to Operations Manager responsible for Gammon Skanska's business in Shanghai. Highly respected by a team of predominantly mainland Chinese staff, his role broadened to include marketing and tendering activities, as well as continuing to deliver projects for Lucent Technologies and Schindler amongst others.
Jonathan returned to Hong Kong as Senior Project Manager for Tradeport Logistics Centre and the DHL Asia Hub, both GMP projects at the airport. While operating in a fixed price environment and repeatedly exceeding profit expectations, Jonathan has consistently maintained a strong commitment to Partnering and an integrated team approach. He was instrumental in setting up the Hong Kong Construction Innovation initiative and was also involved in developing Gammon Skanska's corporate electronic project management system.
