Jon Pettifer | Mace
Jon joined Mace in May 2002 working initially in the Retail sector as Regional Development Co-ordinator for Safeway and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Jon then moved to become Key Account Director responsible for our commission with Abbey where he built a new team to meet the challenging targets set by the client and ultimately delivered 854 refurbishment projects in a calendar year for the eventual client, Banco Santander.
In June 2006 Jon joined the Olympics working initially as a client representative with the overall responsibility for Project Managing the Planning Application for the Olympic Park and seeing the Application through to approval.
Following this successfully achieved milestone Jon moved on to working as Head of Interface for the Delivery Partner brokering Strategic dialogue between the Olympic Delivery Authority their Delivery Partner, CLM, the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and the Department for Culture Media and Sport. During this period Jon was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend 9 weeks in Beijing as a guest of the International Olympic Committee to experience the operational aspects associated with running the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
As a result of a very successful 5 year period working on the London 2012 programme Jon moved to Russia to lead a team to develop State Laws that would govern interaction between the Organising Committee for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and the State Corporation Olimpstroy, the Government body responsible for delivery of the Venues and infrastructure. The results of this commission were presented to the IOC in April 2010 and received high praise; the laws now underpin the delivery of the 2014 Winter Olympic programme. During this period in Moscow, Jon was able to attend the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver as an official Observer, this provided a valuable insight into the overall management of a Winter Olympic Programme.
Jon now leads Mace activity in the Global Sports event sector.
