After obtaining a degree in civil engineering at Queens University in Belfast Crawford moved to London and obtained a Masters degree from Imperial college in structural steel design. A further 10 years was spent in structural analysis and design. Work varied from finite element and dynamic analysis of buildings through to structural design and project management of UK based historical buildings, central London Office blocks and blast resistant control buildings in the middle and far east.
Through the time as a practising engineer Crawford was responsible for developing internal business systems by procuring and managing computer systems to improve business performance including the management of CAD departments.
For the past several years Crawford has been responsible for developing business processes and managing the development of various knowledge management initiatives such as a corporate intranet, project intranets, document management, and other business information and management tools.
Currently, Crawford provides consultancy services relating to information management on construction projects as well as developing and implementing internet based project control systems. This is provided through the IMS (Information Management Services) business unit.
Crawford's strengths include the ability to understand the needs of the business both internally and externally and liaise with technology experts to implement technology solutions for business improvement.
